This unique set of six Italian chairs was designed by Mario Marenco and Antonella Scarpitta and produced by Mobil Girgi in the 1980s. Known as the model “830,” the chairs are notable for their distinctive design and high-quality materials.
The chairs have a unique structure where the front legs slide together with the armrests and around the backrest without visible joints, creating a flowing and continuous shape. The seats are upholstered with original cognac-colored leather, which provides both comfort and a luxurious look. The wooden components, made of beech, have been shaped using steam bending techniques, known as the Thonet technique, which contributes to the chair's durability, lightweight construction and elegant shape. The backrest, which is slightly curved, is covered with vertical stripes of walnut veneer, which highlight the richness of the wood and give each chair a unique look.
Marenco and Scarpitta, renowned for their clean and functional designs, often incorporating advanced technological elements and a deep understanding of materials, have included all of these qualities in this project. The chairs are in excellent original condition with minor signs of wear reflecting their age. They have only been gently cleaned and the wood has been preserved with professional compounds.
