What exactly is a daybed? Yes, you usually use daybeds to rest your head, to relax in or lean back and sit in - both in a private or shared room. You can also use it at the psychologist's or the doctor's, if it is to be used as an ordinary sofa. There are many options.
A daybed can be considered a kind of multifunctional piece of furniture. A daybed is considered to be a cross between a chaise longue, a sofa and a bed. A daybed typically has a backrest, sides and comes in double size. Sometimes you can adjust the backrest if you of course buy a "backrest model". It can be traditional sofa models or one with a more modern look. It can be a modern piece of furniture with an exclusive look that fits perfectly into your Nordic home and decor. They can of course be used for overnight guests or simply to stand in an elegant Scandinavian interior. In other words, daybeds suit every occasion. Daybeds can be made of varnished oak, solid wood, metal or a combination of wood and metal. They are available with light or dark wooden legs.
At Splish we have modern Japanese daybeds in cognac or black leather. Both daybeds come with soft pillows - the furniture is by designer Mads Emil Garde. The elegant and functional daybed is called Jundo, which in Japanese means purity. The JUNDO daybed can be personalized depending on how many cushions you place and how you place them – across the ribs, along the ribs or whether you use the cushions against a wall. When you order your daybed at SPLISH, JUNDO comes prepackaged in a solid outer box with the number of soft pillows you choose. It doesn't matter if you choose cognac or black leather, you get a highly functional daybed and multifunctional piece of furniture.
JUNDO's beautiful daybed consists of 16 ribs of compressed beech veneer, assembled with brass fittings. It is a practical piece of furniture with plenty of room for the body. The cushions are made of high-density foam, which with its strong cell structure makes the material very durable and long-lasting as well as comfortable. It can also be used as an "extra sofa" in the living room, bedroom or office, if you just want a beautiful design to look at.
However, it should be noted that the colors of the JUNDO daybed may in some cases differ from the colors shown in our pictures, which is why we cannot guarantee a color match. Regardless of which daybed model you choose, the natural material used can vary in appearance from item to item. However, this means that JUNDO's classic daybed appears beautiful in the interior, because it is unique and at the same time authentic. The cushions are upholstered in Sørensen cognac or black leather. You choose whether you want 1, 2 or 3 pillows. Daybeds are also used in other contexts. An elegant daybed like this can be used outdoors if you want to sunbathe. They are protected by leather in thickness, 1,1-1,3 mm.
If you are looking for a living daybed for a Scandinavian interior with extra seating, then you get a lot for your money with a JUNDO daybed. The extra seating comes with the purchase of soft cushions.
How to care for your daybed
Regardless of whether you buy an indoor or outdoor daybed, you can always clean it just like your sofas. However, we recommend that you take the JUNDO daybed inside after you have used it outdoors. For example, you can use a vacuum cleaner once or twice a month with a soft brush to remove dust. Once or twice a year for thorough cleaning, use the foam from soap flakes with warm water. Apply the foam with a dry, soft cloth, minimizing any contact with water. Avoid bar soap, saddle soap, leather cleaner, household cleaners or chemical products. Protect from direct sunlight, direct heat and sharp objects.
Møbelbrand brings together Japanese and Danish designers
MOTARASU brings together Japanese and Danish designers under one brand and thus presents the common traditions in Danish homes and also internationally. As you know, both Japan and Denmark are famous for simple designs that create an elegant expression. Both countries also have long and proud design traditions and have a lot in common when it comes to designing beautiful and functional furniture.
MOTARASU lives by the philosophy that they should surround themselves with beautiful quality furniture and interiors. They therefore also select works with the aim of bringing joy to quality-conscious furniture and interior enthusiasts – hence a solid daybed for Danish homes.
MOTARASU was founded in Denmark in 2019 by Mikkel Zebitz. Like many other Danes, Zebitz was inspired by the distinctive Japanese design and aesthetics. As many classic Danish design icons as well as contemporary designers have largely just let Japanese design serve as inspiration, Zebitz wanted to change this. "Motarasu" means "to change" in Japanese - precisely by uniting the designers of the two countries to create modern designs together.
Nature and art are the key elements in MOTARASU's designs, and the end result is poetic, tactile and functional furniture art. MOTARASU works from the showroom on Frederiksgade in Copenhagen with private clients, architects, galleries and international high-end retailers.
