Product description

Two very early LCM chairs (Lounge Chair Metal) designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller in 1946. These examples date from around 1954 and are considered 2nd generation – characterized by the solid steel frames, original 'boot gliders' and the early, separate shock mounts.

The chairs are made of pressed walnut veneer with a chrome-plated metal frame – an innovative material combination for its time, combining industrial expression with warm elegance. The seat and back have been carefully restored with two small veneer repairs, light sanding and waxing, which has given the wood its original glow back. The frame has a beautiful, age-appropriate patina, and two of the original gliders have been replaced with identical new ones.

The chairs come from the American company Federal Mogul's furniture inventory – a historical provenance that adds soul and authenticity.

Bought a used Wegner armchair, which was delivered directly from a dealer. So it seems that Splish collaborates with different dealers who are then responsible for the delivery. Therefore it feels a bit like I could have just as well ordered directly from the dealer, but at the same time it is quite nice that you can compare products across dealers on the website. The quality was as described and the delivery was problem-free, however the delivery took 9 days, while the website said 3-7 days. All in all, very satisfied.
