This round extendable rosewood table was designed in 1958 by Ico and Louisa Parisi for MIM (Mobili Italiani Moderni). The table, known as the Olbia model, is a remarkable piece of furniture from the 1950s. Ico Parisi, a renowned Italian architect and designer, often collaborated with his wife Louisa, combining innovative design with unparalleled craftsmanship. The Olbia model reflects their signature style with elegant shapes, sleek lines and a harmonious use of materials. The craftsmanship of the table is exemplary, and the rosewood used for its construction is renowned for its rich color and durability. The precisely crafted surface, highlighted by the star-patterned rosewood veneer, showcases the natural beauty of the wood. The geometrically designed, sturdy legs, connected by bent wood structures, create a visually striking and stable base. This combination of warm rosewood and the interestingly shaped base, together with the cool metal legs, gives the table a modern touch that still maintains its classic style.
One of the unique features of the table is the innovative and practical pull-out mechanism, reflecting Parisis' focus on functionality and durable design. The system is cleverly integrated into the table's design, with the tabletop consisting of two halves that slide apart to reveal a hidden two-part extension stored in the structure. One part of the extension can be lifted and with a simple pull the other part automatically extends, allowing the table to change from a compact round shape to an elongated oval. This attention to both form and function, combined with the use of high-quality materials, makes the Olbia table a true design icon. Our team has checked the table, and despite the passage of time, it is still in excellent original condition. The tabletop has been given a new coat of varnish, ensuring many more decades of use. The table is still fully functional, and the authenticity of the origin is confirmed by the manufacturer's stamp. We have a set of chairs from the same home and are also offering it as a set.
