Designed by Tani Toshiyuki
The SEN table lamp is a unique and modern piece of lighting art that builds on tradition and at the same time revitalizes traditional Japanese craftsmanship. Also available as a pendant.
Sen means lines in Japanese, and the many strips of bamboo steam-bent into shape create lines as well as shadow. The lamps' craftsmanship is based on the traditional art of takeensuji, a technique traditionally used to make insect cages and paper lanterns, while adding a modern look and use.
The lamp is carefully handcrafted in Japan by the artist himself, Tani Toshiyuki, using around 600 bamboo strips.
Packing
The SEN lamps come packaged in a solid outer box.
Material
The lamps are made of bamboo and will eventually acquire the traditional, sought-after amber colour. When used in a room with high ventilation or with lots of sunlight, the amber color will appear faster. White textile cord, length 3 m for pendant and 2 m for table lamp. The table lamp's power plug is a type C plug. The light source is a light bulb E14 60W or equivalent LED.
Please note that the colors shown in the images may in some cases differ from the colors of the actual object. We therefore cannot guarantee a color match. The natural material used can also vary in appearance from object to object.
Maintenance
The pendant can be cleaned of dust with a dry soft cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush.
That's what the designer says
"The motif of this work is a celebration of the strength of the flower bud growing into full bloom."
