Product description
Model desk chair designed by WH Gispen in 1933 for the Gispen metal furniture factory. An early and distinctive representative of Bauhaus-inspired industrial design, originally developed as a work chair for typewriter use in the 1930s.
The chair is made of polished metal and has been carefully restored with new upholstery in blue textile. The construction allows for adjustment of both seat height and backrest height, ensuring an ergonomic sitting position. The design is characterized by sculptural details and a technical precision that clearly reflects the functionalist ideals of the period.
WH Gispen (1890–1981) was a central figure in Dutch modernism and known for his tubular steel furniture, which combines industrial design, comfort and quality craftsmanship.
