Product description
Model safari armchair designed by Wilhelm Kienzle in 1928 for Wohnbedarf in Zurich. The chair is made of solid oak with bronze fittings and thick black leather, which has developed a beautiful and natural patina over time. The construction is light and functional, but at the same time solid, and the design is characterized by early modernism with a focus on the honesty of the materials and the clarity of the joints.
The chair shows signs of wear consistent with its age, and some leather straps have been carefully replaced to preserve function and comfort. A piece of furniture with character that acts as a striking eye-catcher in the interior and is aimed at collectors and connoisseurs of early modernist design.
Wilhelm Kienzle worked with Peter Behrens at AEG in Berlin at an early age and later taught at the Zurich School of Design from 1916 to 1951. His furniture for Wohnbedarf is characterized by a rational design language and high quality craftsmanship.
